After an initial review of the user journeys, customer feedback, competitive research, and product analytics, we designed a number of experiments targeted to increase activation metrics and subscription revenue. Our secondary goal was to improve the overall user experience by designing a more modern user journey.
The redesigned onboarding journey not only improved the overall user experience but also led to improvements of key metrics including:
- an increase of the install-to-signup conversion rate by more than 5 percent points
- an increase of the install-to-paid conversion rate and 1yr plan share, leading to a >15% increase in revenue per install
- a 5x increase of the number of app store ratings and an improved average app store rating of 4.8 stars on iOS
- an increase of the push notification opt-in rate of >39% allowing LingQ to reach thousands of additional users with upcoming campaigns having a positive impact on both retention and revenue
